Why Agradaa’s 15-year sentence was reduced to 12 months – Full judgement

The Amasaman High Court has substantially cut the custodial sentence imposed on evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, bringing her term down from 15 years to 12 calendar months.

In delivering its decision, the court maintained the conviction but found that the punishment earlier imposed was unduly severe. It held that while a prison sentence was appropriate for the offence, the length and conditions attached to the original 15-year term went beyond what was reasonable in the circumstances.

As part of the revised punishment, the court also ordered Nana Agradaa to pay a fine of 200 penalty units, amounting to GH¢2,400.

The one-year sentence is to be calculated from July 3, 2025, the date she was originally convicted, meaning she will serve a total of 12 months in custody.
