Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has appealed to delegates of the party to give him the mandate to lead the NPP as its presidential candidate for the 2028 general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking in a televised address to national delegates on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the former Assin Central Member of Parliament said his leadership would be anchored on unity, internal democracy, industrialisation, and job creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI do not believe in revenge politics, and I will not tolerate any attempt to shrink the party by threatening its grassroots. Be assured of this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Agyapong stressed that the strength of the NPP lay in its democratic traditions, urging delegates to remain resolute in defending those values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe NPP was built on courage and internal democracy. So, I say to you, stand firm,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outlining his vision for the country, he said industrialisation and employment would be central to his administration if elected as flagbearer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI stand for industrialisation, and that\u2019s all my message. I am also for employment and jobs. What we need in this country is employment for the youth. So please give me the opportunity to serve you, and I will not disappoint you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NPP flagbearership election is scheduled to take place nationwide on Saturday, January 31, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Party leadership, in collaboration with the Electoral Commission, has indicated that adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth, free, and credible electoral process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
