Former Ghana Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr Tony Aidoo, has weighed in on the New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) presidential race, urging Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to withdraw from the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on Joy FM\u2019s Super Morning Show on Friday, January 30, Dr Aidoo was asked to assess the five aspirants seeking to lead the party into the next general election. In his response, he said Mr Agyapong does not meet the standard required for the presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo far among the candidates, personally, I think Kennedy Agyapong should opt out,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Aidoo explained his position using strong language, arguing that the NPP lawmaker lacks the temperament expected of a presidential candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe don’t want a braggart who lies about people to be our president,\u201d he said on the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, Mr Agyapong does not fit the office of the President. \u201cHe is not presidential material,\u201d Dr Aidoo added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The New Patriotic Party is scheduled to hold its presidential primaries on Saturday, January 31, as part of preparations towards the next general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aspirants include former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong; Abetifi MP and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Bryan Acheampong; Bosomtwe MP and former Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
