{"id":25052,"date":"2026-01-21T14:28:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T14:28:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.fawefmonline.com\/?p=25052"},"modified":"2026-01-21T14:28:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T14:28:05","slug":"mahama-to-lead-accra-reset-talks-at-world-economic-forum-in-davos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.fawefmonline.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/21\/mahama-to-lead-accra-reset-talks-at-world-economic-forum-in-davos\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama to lead Accra Reset Talks at World Economic Forum in Davos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>President John Dramani Mahama will lead discussions on the Accra Reset initiative at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, as part of efforts to reimagine international cooperation and strengthen sovereign capacity among countries of the Global South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement issued by the Presidency Communications on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, President Mahama is expected to participate in the first Davos convening of the Accra Reset on Thursday, January 22, 2026, on the margins of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the statement, the President leads the Presidential Council of the Accra Reset, described as \u201ca Global South initiative working to strengthen sovereign capacity and reimagine international cooperation in an era of unprecedented global challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement noted that the Accra Reset is timely, coming at a period marked by \u201cintensifying great-power rivalries, the collapse of the global aid narrative, unprecedented trade tensions, and the crises of climate shocks, cost of living, pandemics, and conflicts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several sitting heads of state are expected to attend the side event, including Egypt\u2019s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Kenya\u2019s President William Samoei Ruto, and President F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Nigeria will be represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, while Papua New Guinea\u2019s Prime Minister, James Marape, will also participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former heads of state attending include Nigeria\u2019s former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Rt. Hon.
